Formspring Q & A: Don't you think you deserve better than that? Shouldn't you be saying, "I'm so lucky, and he makes me feel so special" Do you think you deserve to be treated like that?

A:  I'm not exactly sure what you are referring to....but I do agree that one should be happy with who they are with and should feel that way. Hope I feel that way too.

Formspring Q & A: What's the point?

A:  I don't know. But something is making us hold on. I want things to work....but I don't want to be hurting all the time either. Good things are worth fighting for? But I don't want to be the only one fighting either....I don't know. That's basically my answer; I just don't know. Better question would be, why do we do this to ourselves? ha It gets better, my friend...that's all we can really tell ourselves. And we have to believe it.

Formspring Q & A: Attraction to a friend, past or present?

A:  If you are asking if I am attracted to any friends currently, then the answer is yes. I have also been attracted to and dated friends in the past as well. There are lots of pretty people in the world. And most of my friends are beautiful inside and out. =o)

FormSpring Q & A: Would you rather date a lot of different people, or be in a committed relationship?

A:  Committed relationship. I really don't get the point to frivolous dating...if I am going to date someone, it is because I see long term potential in them...I'm not into just sleeping around or wasting my time and emotions on random people. I'd rather be single and just flirt a lot. ha

Formspring Q & A: What's the nicest thing someone's ever done for you?

A:  Nothing pops out at me at the moment as a #1 thing. I know there have been many things. Taking me to concerts, buying my lunch, donating money to or volunteering at my favorite charities, being a shoulder to cry on...I have some awesome friends and family. Guess the biggest one would be my mom giving birth to me. ha This is one I may have to update later. =o)

Formspring Q & A: What TV show do you wish would go off the air for good?

a lot of the stupid sh*t passing as "reality tv" on MTV and stations like that....Jersey Shore, 16 and Pregnant...etc. They really show how stupid a lot of people are, and the fact that society accepts their behavior is ridiculous!

Formspring Q & A: Would you rather get up early or sleep late?

SLEEP LATE!!! I am NOT a morning person, I am a night owl!

Formspring Q & A: How would you describe your personality?

fun, random...I think this is a better question for friends and family members....I may see myself as one way while all others perceive me differently.

Formspring Q & A: When was the last time you received flowers?

Does catching the bouquet at one of my best friend's wedding count? If so, about 2 months ago....actually having some delivered to me..I don't know, over a year.

Formspring Q & A: If you could make one person fall in love with you who would it be?

Mike Rowe. haha

Formspring Q & A: What was your favorite year?

2002 so far - when I was 19. I did the most traveling, was around a ton of music, made lasting friendships, had plenty of money and not a lot of obligations, and I remember just being happy....well, for the majority of the year.

Formspring Q & A: If you won a $1,000 shopping spree for any store, which store would you pick?

Either an electronics store like Fry's, Sams Club/Wal Mart, the Disney Store, or Kohl's (since Mervyn's and Gottschalks are out of business)

Formspring Q & A: Would you rather be really hot or really cold?

cold

Formspring Q & A: If you had to cook dinner for someone tonight, what would you make?

Something with chicken, lemon, potatoes, and onions....and some sort of chocolate dessert....

Formspring Q & A: If you could only read one magazine for the rest of your life, which would it be?

Rolling Stone or Spin probably

Formspring Q & A: What's one food you'll never eat again?

octopus

Formspring Q & A: How do you feel about body hair, from a personal standpoint?

Body hair? um....as far as facial hair, I usually like it....I don't really know where you are going with this question....um, I shave on a regular basis, even though it can be tedious and annoying....I couldn't go too long without shaving at least my armpits. I would feel gross. Guys have it easy when it comes to shaving. Although I am not too attracted to guys with a lot of body hair...there are many other things that are worse than a guy with a hairy chest.

Formspring Q & A: what color is your hair naturally?

brown with natural red highlights

Random Ramblings

So, I finally got a new job.  Yay!!

Started a couple of months ago, and even though the duties are still slowly trickeling in, it is great to finally be out of the office I was in.  Even though I loved some of the people, it was a job that constantly made me depressed and I hated going in every day...for 5 years!!

This new job is a lot of the same duties that I had before, but that's OK.  There is much more room for growth in this department.
One of the things I like is working right across the street from our State's Capitol.  It is fun to go on walks and take pictures of nature and the older buildings in this area.  Sadly, my unit is moving to another area about a half mile from here...I am a bit bummed, but at least my job will still have me working out of this office a few times a month.  So I shall still get to take walks around the park and make friends with squirrels.

On a side note, I have to say I made my self giggle while writing this...saying duties and unit.  Yes, I know, I have the mind of a 12 year old boy.  haha

Art of the city

Walking around places like Portland or San Francisco you get to see all kinds of talent.  Rather it’s paintings/murals on buildings, people street dancing, singing or playing instruments, or individuals selling a piece of themselves in their artwork.  There are many rich visuals in cities that embrace a more "bohemian" environment.
Living in the Capital of California I am sad to say that, with the exception of a few days out of the month, our city streets aren't filled with the same beauty and life, but more filled with the hustle and bustle of business people and their need to get their next coffee fix, myself included.

I like to take the time to talk to the "local folk" of downtown once in a while, and have met some interesting people.  Yes, I have run into the guy waiting for his "mother-ship" to land and people who will pester you for money, but then there are people like Tony.

I met Tony while walking to get my coffee one morning.  He was standing at a corner greeting everyone that passed with a cheerful smile and warm salutation, even though it was probably 50 degrees outside.  Tony was selling the Homeward Street Journal newspapers to help the homeless, himself included.  I chatted with Tony whenever I went to get coffee for a few months, exchanging life stories, talking about daily events, the news, offering encouraging words when either one of us was having a bad day, and anything else you would discuss with your friends/co-workers.  I grew to expect to see him any time I went to get coffee.  One day I went on a run and Tony wasn't there, instead there was another homeless gentleman selling the newspaper.  I asked him where Tony was and he wasn't quite sure.  After a couple of weeks of asking around I found out that Tony had decided to move locations and started to sell some of his artwork across from the Capitol on L street.  I recently walked over to where he was so I could say hi to and old friend and check out his drawings (I never knew he was an artist before).  I must say, he is a talented man.  He has even made postcards and bookmarks out of some of his drawings of the State Capitol Building and other things.  Postcards are only $2 and bookmarks $1.  I chatted with him for a while and found that people had even commissioned artwork from him.  I loved to see someone else willing to share their craft with the world, and not just expect a handout like so many.

On a rare occasion I have seen/heard people singing and playing the guitar or violin around downtown, but not enough.  I wish that our city could be more open to letting people share their gifts with us.  I mean, would you rather have people just asking you for money, or would you like to hear some beautiful music or see some wonderful artwork and donate to help them further their abilities and help them live?

If anyone would like to check out Tony's artwork, he is usually either on
L street across from the North Side of the Capitol Building or on the corner of 9th and I street, from 8:30-11am.

Exploring Oregon...Some Day I Shall Call It Home

I am enjoying my 2nd trip to Portland, OR in a few months.  Today my friend Russ and I will be exploring some new parts of Oregon, mostly around the coast.  Read my horoscope and it reaffirmed that I will have a fantastic day....if those have any base in reality, reading them is just fun.

I plan to move up here some day to realize my dream of moving somewhere that I can live in the "middle of nowhere" with lots of nature and animals around me, but only be 30 minuets or so away from a city where I can still enjoy the nightlife and be surrounded by music.  During my other trips it has always been sunny and semi-warm.  Today it is cold, wet, and a little windy; more typical Portland weather.  I am excited to explore more of the city and it's surroundings in it's "natural state".

Oh, by the way, here is what my horoscope said:
Aries: Your fiery energy is just right for hitting the streets and exploring new territory -- or finding your way around your own backyard. See if your people are ready for a big adventure!

Time to head out on my adventure!!
(more pictures to come.)

Formspring Q & A: Are you a sentimental kind of person? (i.e. saving mementos from your childhood, things people gave you, etc.)

Q: Are you a sentimental kind of person? (i.e. saving mementos from your childhood, things people gave you, etc.)

A: YES! Too much so sometimes...I need to get rid of a lot of things. I see a huge yard-sale in my future. =o) haha
I also need to maybe change paper memories into digital ones so they take up less space. (scanning cards, letters, etc.)

Formspring Q & A - How old were you when you had your first kiss?

Q:  How old were you when you had your first kiss?

A:  hmm....probably in pre-school. But my first "real" kiss (that I count) was when I was 20 with my ex. The first kiss that gave me all the feelings that you only see in movies. =o) It was wonderful, and at a train station...very movie worthy. haha

Formspring Q & A: first paying job?

Q: What was your first paying job?

A:  hmm....probably babysitting, or pet-sitting...Well no wait, it was an acting gig in a PSA about sexual harassment in Jr. High Schools....The film was supposed to be shown in schools around the country. I wonder if any of you have actually seen it????

Formspring Q & A. My dream man.

Q: describe your dream guy.what is the most important factor in a potential partner for you?

A: Hmmm....there is always the fantasy of the "perfect man"...dark hair, light eyes (preferably blue), great smile, handyman type, sensitive but strong, can sing and/or play a musical instrument; shares my love for traveling, going to concerts, photography, Disney, and animals. Someone who is kind and chivalrous (something that seems to be lost on most men in my generation) and likes to cuddle. Humor is something that I think most people enjoy in a partner and I am no exception. It's a great thing to be with someone that can make you laugh and smile. Plus I can have a pretty dirty sense of humor myself, so someone that can keep up, but isn’t just bluntly vulgar, would be a plus.

It’s common knowledge, to all who know me, that I love Mike Rowe…with the exception of being a lil hairier than I would like, and about 15 years older, he is the closest that I have seen to my idea of the “perfect man” . As far as body type, I tend to like guys with “climber bodies”. I am an arm girl…a man with some nice guns can turn me on. Haha But he doesn’t have to be totally fit. I also like my guys with some meat on their bones…not rock solid or bulging muscles everywhere…not to say I like a beer belly, that’s a no no, just a lil extra meat. (I don’t want to feel like I have to be constantly working out to look like a perfect specimen to keep up with my man…I’m too lazy for that, plus I can think of better things to do with my time than constantly be at a gym) He can’t smoke cigarettes or be a heavy drinker. No bad teeth or beer bellies…yuck.

I want my partner to be my best friend. The two most important things in a relationship to me are trust and communication (inside and outside of the bedroom). Someone who has a good head on their shoulders, and doesn’t need someone to constantly take care of them. And a secure person that can handle the fact that I have a lot of male friends, but know and trust that I would never do anything with them. I am a one man kind of woman, and just “one of the guys” with my male friends.
